Pulp Crazy – The Eldritch Force

In this episode I will be discussing a modern Cthulhu Mythos Round Robin tale, “The Eldritch Force”. It was recently published in the February 2014 issue of the Lovecraft e-zine. It is written by Pete Rawlik, Glynn Owen Barrass, Brian M. Sammons, Bruce L. Priddy, Robert M. Price, Rick Lai and David Conyers. The Lovecraft e-Zine, published by Mike Davis does a great job of releasing quality Lovecraftian fiction and making it available in multiple formats, this issue is no different. I’ll include links in the show notes where you can read or listen to “The Eldritch Force”. You can read the story for free on the Lovecraft E-Zine website and also download the audiobook edition of the issue that contains the story. If you wish you can purchase the issue in Kindle, Nook or Print format.

The Eldritch Force is a mash up of Pulp style heroes and the Cthulhu Mythos, It also acts a sequel to the original Cthulhu Mythos Round Robin, “The Challenge From Beyond.” It is set in Post World War II occupied Berlin and beneath Auschwitz. Some great pulp elements are present: underground tunnels, secret experiments and monsters to name just a few.

Pulp Crazy – Honey West & T.H.E. Cat: A Girl and Her Cat

In this episode I review Honey West & T.H.E. Cat: A Girl and Her Cat written by Win Scott Eckert and Matthew Baugh. The novella is published by Moonstone Books and is currently available in a limited edition hardcover, with a softcover due out on June 10, 2014. I also include audio from Win’s panel on the novella from Pulpfest 2013, where he gives an overview of the characters, reads from the prologue and first chapter and does an audience Q&A.

The story sees Honey West hired by the beautiful Doctor Fang to recover a stolen vaccine and a pocket watch that belongs to her grandfather, Shan Ming Fu. Honey takes the case, but soon realizes there is more going on than what she was told. International espionage agencies from both sides of the law are involved, and she enlists the aide of her friend T.H.E. Cat in order to recover the items. There are crossovers and references a plenty that fans of the pulps and 60’s television shows won’t want to miss.
