Pulp Crazy – The Avenger by Paul Ernst

In this weeks episode I discuss the Avenger by Paul Ernst. Richard Henry Benson, the Avenger first appeared in his own magazine in September 1939. His many talents and unique ability to change his appearance really set him apart from the other pulp heroes. A combination of Doc Savage and the Shadow, yet unique enough to stand on his own, the Avenger continues to have a fairly strong following today. The original pulp stories were reprinted in paperback during the 1970’s, which is how many pulp fans discovered them.
